  1. Percentage distribution of tissues observed in the experimental samples by BS-SEM. The “total observed area” involves all of tissue observed in the epidural space including biomaterial particles, in a frontal cut of sample (as showed in Fig. 2). The “total bone area” involves only the bone tissue (without biomaterial particles) observed in a frontal cut of samples. BCP samples reveal a more mature profile of osseous tissue than β-TCP with higher amounts of lamellar bone, albeit the difference is not significant
